牙齒怎麼來的？

超過98%的脊椎動物有牙齒，但是最早的脊椎動物（像文昌魚的魚類）是沒有牙齒的。

所以，牙齒是怎麼產生的呢？

荷蘭與英國的研究團隊，在以瑞士Swiss Light Source at the Paul Scherrer Institut的高能量X光研究Romundina stellina這種魚的齒盤（tooth plate）後發現，最原始的牙齒可能是由魚鱗演化產生的。

這塊齒盤被跟其他的化石放在一起超過40年，直到Martin Rücklin與Philip Donoghue重新發現了它並加以研究。 當然，這還需要更多的研究證據來證實。
